The iconic Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin rides at Magic Kingdom are set to make a grand return in Spring 2026, according to the latest announcement from Disney. These much-loved attractions have been undergoing extensive overhauls to bring exciting new features and enhancements to guests.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: A Cosmic Transformation
Since August 2025, the beloved Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed for a major overhaul, adding new vehicles, blasters, targets, and an all-new scene featuring Buddy, the support-bot. This transformation will bring real-time scoring and other exciting features, inspired by Star Command. The ride will also feature new blasters with an always-on laser, new colors, and enhanced light, sound, and haptic effects.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: A Wild Ride Redefined
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed since January 6, 2025, for a comprehensive refurbishment. During this time, the ride received all-new track, and Disney has announced a transformed opening scene with a reimagined Rainbow Caverns. More new scenes and surprises are expected, but the details remain under wraps.
