Star Defensive Tackle Christian Barmore of the Patriots Faces Serious Domestic Assault Charges
In a stunning turn of events, just a day after NFL player Stefon Diggs was accused of assaulting his personal chef, another prominent athlete is in hot water. Christian Barmore, the talented defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, has found himself embroiled in a legal situation as he faces allegations of domestic assault.
According to court documents that were made available to TMZ Sports, the incident in question began when a woman called the Mansfield Police Department on August 25 to report an alleged altercation that occurred on August 8. The details she provided paint a troubling picture: the woman claimed that Barmore became enraged following a disagreement regarding the air conditioning in their bedroom. The tension escalated, leading to further arguments over food that Barmore insisted belonged to him.
Feeling the need to leave the situation, the woman attempted to gather her belongings. During this process, she stated that she reached out to her mother via phone, only for Barmore to reportedly snatch the phone from her hand and terminate the call. Following this, she described an alarming physical confrontation, alleging that Barmore threw her to the ground.
When she tried to rise, she claimed that Barmore grabbed her by her shirt near her neck, further escalating the situation. Eventually, when he released her, she took their child and managed to get in touch with her mother once again. Interestingly, Barmore also called his mother during this time, seeking to calm his own emotions.
About an hour later, the woman reported that a car service, typically used by Patriots players, picked her up along with their two-year-old daughter, transporting them to Delaware.
When questioned by police about the delay in reporting the incident, she expressed fear of Barmore and his associates, especially given his status as a wealthy NFL player. On September 9, the woman, who revealed that she had been in an on-and-off relationship with Barmore for three and a half years, decided to pursue formal charges against him. These charges were officially filed on December 16.
In response to the unfolding situation, the New England Patriots issued a statement shortly after the news became public. They noted that they were aware of the incident at the time it occurred and had informed the NFL promptly. Their statement emphasized, "The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time."
